Carlotta Leon Guerrero spent 12 years as a reporter on Guam and in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas, laying the foundation for her next career as a Guam Senator chairing the Transportation, Telecommunications, and Micronesian Affairs Committee. Her regional leadership positions enabled her to push for greater local control of the tuna stocks of the Western and Central Pacifics. Ms. Leon Guerrero is the Executive Director of the Ayuda Foundation, a humanitarian aid organization she founded 11 years ago. She is also working with the lawmakers from 12 Pacific jurisdictions to create an organization to help craft environmental law and policy.
